Drought as a modulator of plant–virus–vector interactions: Effects on symptom expression, plant immunity and vector behaviour

چکیده

Abstract Plant–virus interactions are affected by environmental conditions that determine plant vulnerability to pathogens and the population dynamics of insect vectors. We hypothesize drought enhances horizontal transmission dampening basal immunity plants, which triggers symptom expression vector manipulation. The potato yellow vein virus (PYVV) causes disease (PYVD), a re‐emerging epidemic crops in South America, is transmitted horizontally greenhouse whitefly (GWF), Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), or vertically through infected seed tubers. investigated role temperature as modulators PYVD expression, immune response, survival, development host preference. found induced suppressed salicylic acid pathway increased PYVV replication. GWF survival was reduced on PYVV‐infected hosts slowest when they fed plants with symptoms, also triggered adults’ attraction plants. However, adults previously showed opposite effect, being more attracted PYVV‐free propose theoretical model explains modulating potato–PYVV–GWF provides new insights into plant–virus–vector coevolution.

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

Legacy effects of drought on plant-soil feedbacks and plant-plant interactions.

Interactions between aboveground and belowground biota have the potential to modify ecosystem responses to climate change, yet little is known about how drought influences plant-soil feedbacks with respect to microbial mediation of plant community dynamics. We tested the hypothesis that drought modifies plant-soil feedback with consequences for plant competition. We measured net pairwise plant-...

Effects of Climate Change and Drought-Stress on Plant Physiology

Drought is still limited in most crops is produced. Morphological and physiological knowledge to improve drought resistance under drought conditions created problems important is the fact each of these genetic relationships and processes associated with the exact amount of important plant and grain yield is unknown. The other hand, heritability of grain yield under water is reduced. Improve the...
